When you first began creating graphics, which software did you begin on? We all started somewhere, either with GIMP, Paint, or even straight to Adobe Photoshop.
I for one started on GIMP. I downloaded the software to make a few graphics and really liked it. I was then given Adobe PS CS5.1 for Christmas one year and started using that. To this day I still use PS, It's very unique and easy to use. All it takes is practice and dedicated time for the practice and for learning

I started with GIMP about a year ago. I didn't see the point of spending money on Photoshop, although it looks a little better, when GIMP works just as well for what I need to do.
It runs pretty well on my computer. Usually, anyone I know with Photoshop says that it runs slowly on older computers. The portable version is also useful if you're using someone else's computer.
GIMP can do almost everything Photoshop can do - and for free. But I might buy Photoshop one day, it looks useful and I'd like to have a try with it now I'm used to photo editing on GIMP.

I actually started with PhotoShop. It gets pretty easy to get used to, once you play around with it. I am not an expert at it, but its great skills that you could implement in the future. I tried using GIMP, but it looked to complicated, and it wasn't very user-friendly for me. PhotoShop generally will run slower on older computers, just because of the real-time memory the program is using the entire time; constantly updating your changes as graphics, and performing periodic autosaves. I have PhotoShop Elements, and that has worked for me pretty much so far.

I started making graphics in Photoshop and later found it tricky to learn Illustrator. I tried Gimp on two separate occasions but I really couldn't figure out how to use it and I found my way back to Photoshop.
It seems like many people enjoy using Gimp and maybe I just began working in the wrong order but I found it to be very complicated.

I'm sure most of the people started using Paint. If they wanted to do more graphics they will look into more 'powerful' software such as GIMP or Photoshop.
Microsoft Paint is just so basic that I feel like it doesn't allow a creative person's creativity to shine. It's fun to play around with but if it's the only thing one has been introduced to I feel like they wouldn't be able to develop any of the creative skill that's used in InDesign and Photoshop just because they're used to such a limited environment.

Like most people I started off with Microsoft Paint. I remember the day I discovered that I could copy and paste the Pokemon Charmander and add text to the design on Paint, I was so excited. That was when I first started dabbling into html and I wanted to make "website badges" like other webmasters. My brother had purchased Adobe Photoshop 7 and had installed it on the family computer so I had access to it. I dedicated one whole summer learning different techniques on Photoshop. It was exciting to be able to help others with design requests.

I just recently started fulfilling requests for webmasters who need something created, and there's no better feeling than seeing your creation up on their website in front of hundreds of people.

First software I used was... PAINT))) haha... i've already known I wanna be a web designer at five already) I drew some terrible pictures at that time) My first drofessional soft was cs3 and iconXP from aha-soft.com and now I still use PS daily
