A lot of graphics programs out there allow you to animate your picture. Whether it be making your text glow, or more advanced animation. Have you ever used any sort of gif images to help with any area of your forum?
I actually have made a moving locked image that I always post when locking a thread. I've also made a few custom smilies that are based on my local area.
